California Notice at Collection / State Privacy Rights Notice: See theState privacy rights notice section below for important information about your rights under applicable state privacy laws.
Personal information we collect
Information you provide to us
Personal information you may provide to us through the Service or otherwise includes:
- Contact data, such as your email address when you subscribe to our weekly digest.
- Communications data based on our exchanges with you, including when you email us or contact us through social media.
We do not currently operate user accounts, take payments, run contests or promotions, or collect demographic profiles, financial data, government-issued identification, or user-generated content on the Service. If you email us, please do not send sensitive personal information unless we specifically ask for it.
Third-party sources
We do not buy personal information from data brokers. We may combine information you provide with information we receive from:
- Service providers that help us operate the Service, such as our email delivery provider (confirmation and digest send status) and our hosting and bot-protection provider (Cloudflare, including Turnstile verification results).
- Public or platform sources, such as when you publicly comment on or message our pages on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or similar services. Those platforms' own privacy policies govern your use of their services.
Automatic data collection
We and our service providers may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your interaction with the Service, such as:
- Device and log data, such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, general location derived from IP address (for example city or region), pages or files requested, referring URL, and dates and times of access. This is typical of hosting and content-delivery logs.
- Bot-protection signals when you submit the newsletter form. Cloudflare Turnstile may process device and browser characteristics to distinguish people from automated abuse.
We do not use advertising pixels, analytics SDKs, or interest-based advertising on the Service. We do not collect precise geolocation. For more information, seeTracking & other technologies below.
Data about others
Please do not subscribe someone else to the newsletter or share another person's contact details with us unless you have their permission to do so.
Tracking & other technologies
Cookies and similar technologies. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Limited cookies or similar storage may be used only as needed to operate the Service:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the Service, may set strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies for security, performance, and abuse prevention.
- Cloudflare Turnstile may use cookies or local storage in connection with the newsletter signup challenge.
We do not employ chatbots or generative-AI features on the Service, and we do not use your personal information to train AI models.
You can typically configure your browser to refuse some or all cookies. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may affect security features such as the signup challenge.
How we use your personal information
We may use your personal information for the following purposes or as otherwise described at the time of collection:
Service delivery and operations
- provide, operate, and secure the Service;
- send newsletter confirmation messages and, after you confirm, the weekly digest you requested;
- honor unsubscribe requests and maintain a suppression record so we do not email you again;
- respond to your questions, press inquiries, and other communications; and
- provide support related to the Service.
Service improvement
We may use limited technical information (for example, which pages are requested, or whether a confirmation email was delivered) to keep the Service working and to fix problems. We do not currently use third-party analytics products such as Google Analytics.
Marketing and advertising
We do not run ads on the Service, we do not engage in interest-based advertising, and we do not share personal information with advertising partners. The only recurring email we send is the weekly digest you opt into. We do not send other marketing email.
Compliance and protection
We may use your personal information to:
- comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas, investigations, or requests from government authorities;
- protect our, your, or others' rights, privacy, safety, or property;
- audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements;
- enforce the terms that govern the Service; and
- prevent, identify, investigate, and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical, or illegal activity, including cyberattacks.
Aggregated or de-identified data
We may create aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data from personal information (for example, a count of active subscribers). We will not attempt to reidentify such data except to test whether our deidentification processes work. We do not use personal information to train AI models.
Further uses
If we want to use your personal information for a new purpose that is not compatible with the purpose for which it was collected, we will ask for your consent where required.
Retention
We generally retain personal information to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including satisfying legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, establishing or defending legal claims, or preventing fraud and abuse.
Newsletter email addresses are kept while a subscription is pending or active. After you unsubscribe, we retain the address in an unsubscribed (suppression) status so we can honor your opt-out and avoid emailing you again. Confirmation tokens are emailed once and stored only as one-way hashes. When we no longer require personal information, we may delete it, anonymize it, or isolate it from further processing.
How we share your personal information
We may share your personal information with the following parties (or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, in other applicable notices, or at the time of collection).
- Service providers. Third parties that provide services on our behalf or help us operate the Service, currently including Cloudflare (hosting, content delivery, database, media storage, and Turnstile bot protection) and Resend (transactional and newsletter email delivery).
- Professional advisors. Lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers, in the course of the professional services they render to us, if applicable.
- Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate for the compliance and protection purposes described above.
- Business transferees. We may disclose personal information in the context of actual or prospective business transactions (for example, a sale, merger, or transfer of assets). For example, we may need to share certain personal information with prospective counterparties and their advisers, or with a successor as one of our business assets.
- Third parties designated by you. We may share information where you have instructed us or provided your consent to do so.
We do not have corporate affiliates that receive your information. We do not use payment processors. We do not share personal information with advertising partners. We do not operate public user profiles on the Service.
Your choices
In this section, we describe the rights and choices available to all users. Users who are located in certain U.S. states can find additional information about their rightsbelow.
- Opt out of the newsletter. Use the unsubscribe link in any digest email, or contact us. After you unsubscribe we will not send you the digest. You may still receive a one-time message confirming the unsubscribe if needed.
- Cookies and similar technologies. SeeTracking & other technologies and your browser settings.
- Do Not Track. Some browsers can send "Do Not Track" signals. We do not currently respond to those signals because we do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking. To learn more, seeallaboutdnt.com.
- Declining to provide information. You can use most of the Service without giving us an email address. If you do not provide an email address, we cannot send you the digest.
Other sites and services
The Service may contain links to websites, mobile applications, and other online services operated by third parties — including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, podcast directories, and similar platforms where our video, audio, or social content is hosted. In addition, our content may be integrated into pages or services that are not associated with us. Video thumbnails on the Service are loaded from YouTube's servers; clicking through to watch takes you to YouTube. These links and integrations are not an endorsement of, or representation that we are affiliated with, any third party.
We do not control websites, mobile applications, or online services operated by third parties, and we are not responsible for their actions. When you use those services (including our channels or pages on them), their privacy policies apply. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of the other websites, applications, and online services you use, includingGoogle / YouTube,TikTok, andInstagram.
Security
We employ technical, organizational, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect — including hashed confirmation tokens, double opt-in for the newsletter, and hosting with Cloudflare. However, security risk is inherent in all internet and information technologies, and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information.
International data transfer
We are based in the United States and may use service providers that operate in other countries. Your personal information may be transferred to the United States or other locations where privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your state, province, or country.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our editorial content is intended for a general audience and is not designed for children. If you are a parent or guardian of a child from whom you believe we have collected personal information in a manner prohibited by law, please contact us. If we learn that we have collected personal information through the Service from a child without the consent of the child's parent or guardian as required by law, we will comply with applicable legal requirements to delete the information.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the date of this Privacy Policy and posting it on the Service, or by other appropriate means. Any modifications will be effective upon our posting the modified version (or as otherwise indicated at the time of posting). In all cases, your use of the Service after the effective date of any modified Privacy Policy indicates your acknowledging that the modified Privacy Policy applies to your interactions with the Service and our business.

Except as otherwise provided, this section applies to residents of U.S. states to the extent they have privacy laws applicable to us that grant their residents the rights described below (collectively the "State Privacy Laws").
